An 11-member interstate gang, mostly hailing from Haryana, has been arrested for the killing of Mangal Singh, a cab driver whose body was found in Bajalta forest. A senior police officer informed that Singh, from Jammu, went missing five days earlier while returning from Katra in Reasi district.

Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh revealed that the police successfully cracked the case, arresting the interstate criminals in Ratia Fatehbad, Haryana. Singh's brother filed a missing report on August 19 after he failed to return from Katra. An FIR was filed on August 21 under relevant sections after suspicions arose that Singh had been abducted based on CCTV footage.

The police, analyzing CCTV footage, call data, and hotel records, received an actionable lead which led them to Sirsa, Haryana. Multiple raids were carried out with the local police and counter-intelligence unit, resulting in the arrest of 11 suspects and the recovery of the stolen vehicle. The suspects, mostly from Fatehabad, Haryana, and one from Punjab, have been identified. The gang conspired to abduct Singh in Katra and later murdered him near Bajalta, disposing of his body there. The recovered body has been handed over to his family.
