A tragic house fire in a northern Serbian city early Friday killed six people, including four children, police reported.
The fire erupted around 3 am in Novi Sad, located approximately 90 kilometers (54 miles) north of Belgrade, the capital, according to Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.
An emergency doctor told state television channel RTS that all the victims were already dead when the medical team reached the scene. Dacic revealed in a statement that preliminary findings suggest a charging electric scooter might have sparked the blaze.
The children, aged between 2 and 7 years, were said to be part of a family registered at the address. Serbian media published photos from the scene showing charred items, including a baby stroller and a washing machine, in the small brick house.
