West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has ignited a wave of speculation after sending a confidential letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor. The letter, which was initially not received by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), was later emailed on Thursday afternoon, according to a Raj Bhavan official.

Despite the lack of confirmation from the state government, the governor's action followed his visit to the residence of the deceased doctor's parents in North 24 Parganas district. Bose had previously assured the family of justice and communicated with them multiple times by phone before the visit.

The case, which involves the tragic death of a post-graduate trainee at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has already seen the arrest of a civic volunteer. The Calcutta High Court has now transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The details within the governor's letter remain undisclosed.
