Allahabad High Court Reserves Order on Sanjay Singh's Bail Plea

The Allahabad High Court reserved its order on the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, who was convicted in a 2001 street protest case. The court had allowed Singh not to surrender until the order is passed. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him on August 13, 2023.

On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court reserved its decision regarding a bail plea submitted by Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh. The case pertains to a street protest from 2001.

Justice K S Pawar made the decision to reserve the order following a hearing on the matter. A previous ruling from the court had allowed Singh to avoid surrendering before a Sultanpur court until a decision on the bail plea is reached.

On January 11, 2023, Singh and five others were convicted by a Sultanpur court, with their session court appeal dismissed on August 6. A non-bailable warrant was subsequently issued against Singh and others on August 13 by the MP-MLA court in Sultanpur.
