Protest Erupts Over Doctor's Tragic Death in West Bengal
West Bengal Pradesh Congress workers protested in Kolkata over the rape-murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Senior Congress leaders and party members, including Abdul Mannan and Pradip Bhattacharya, were detained near the Kolkata Police headquarters while marching towards it.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress workers protested on Wednesday over the tragic rape-murder of a woman doctor at the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
In the afternoon, the Congress workers attempted to march towards the Kolkata Police headquarters, officials reported. Senior leaders such as former PCC president Abdul Mannan and veteran Pradip Bhattacharya joined other party members in the march.
However, they were stopped at Central Avenue near the police headquarters and subsequently detained, according to sources.
