In a shocking development in the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, the victim's family has accused the Kolkata Police of attempting to bribe them while they were mourning with her mortal remains. A distressed relative claimed the police offered money as the family grieved, questioning the humanity of such actions.

The allegations surfaced as the family addressed the media following their participation in protests at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night. The victim's aunt criticized the police for failing in their duty, noting that officers abandoned the family immediately after the funeral rites, despite having heavily guarded them beforehand.

'Till the last rites were performed, 300-400 policemen surrounded us but after it was performed, not a single policeman was seen there. What would the family do, how would they go home? Police took no responsibility,' the aunt stated. In solidarity, hundreds of Kolkata residents, alongside the parents of the deceased doctor, participated in a protest by switching off their lights and marching the streets. West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose also joined the protest by extinguishing the lights of Raj Bhavan and lighting a candle.

Expressing frustration at the slow pace of the investigation, the victim's father addressed reporters, emphasizing their demand for answers from the police. 'We will have to go; what else can we do? Things are happening very slowly; we can't tolerate it,' he stated, vowing to question the authorities further.
