Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday criticized the Congress-led past governments for depriving a large number of refugees of citizenship rights due to their policy of appeasement.
Speaking at a gathering in Ahmedabad, where he handed citizenship certificates to 188 Hindu refugees in Gujarat, Shah emphasized that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) is intended to grant rights and justice to millions of refugees.
The Home Minister assured the Muslim community that the CAA contains no provisions to revoke anyone's citizenship, highlighting that previous administrations allowed illegal intrusions while denying legal applicants citizenship.
