The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has officially handed over the Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) of the ‘Nipun’ munition to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) during a ceremony at the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pashan, Pune. The ‘Nipun’ munition, a Soft Target Munition, was designed and developed by ARDE in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune.

ARDE Director Shri A. Raju handed over the AHSP to Controller CQA (A), Khadki, Pune, Maj Gen J. James, marking a significant milestone in the development and deployment of this advanced munition.

Following the successful completion of General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQR)-based evaluations, the ‘Nipun’ munition has been inducted into the Indian Army. The technology has been transferred to two Indian private industries, Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), Nagpur, and Premier Explosives Ltd (PEL), Secunderabad, which are currently engaged in bulk production under purchase orders from the Indian Army. Over 20 lots of these munitions have already been delivered.

The ‘Nipun’ munition is praised for being user-friendly, highly effective against enemy targets, and safe during handling, transportation, and deployment.

Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, congratulated the ARDE team on the successful AHSP transfer and highlighted that this achievement will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian Army.
