Police in Assam seized a total of 10 'bomb-like substances' over the past 24 hours following claims by the banned outfit ULFA (I) of planting 24 explosives across the state.
Two of the devices were discovered in Guwahati, one near Narengi Army Cantonment in Satgaon and the other at Last Gate, close to the state secretariat and ministers' colony.
In an email to media, the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) provided a list and photographs of 19 bomb sites but failed to locate five other spots. The explosives were slated to go off on Thursday but failed due to technical issues.
Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah confirmed the recovery of the devices, remarking on their similarity to those found earlier in the city. Forensic examinations are ongoing to determine if the seized items are indeed explosive.
