The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has deferred the hearing on AAP leader Sanjay Singh's revision petition to August 22. The petition pertains to a bail request stemming from a 2001 demonstration case.
Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, was convicted in January 2023 and faced an appeal dismissal in August 2024. He is now challenging the conviction and sentence in the high court, seeking a suspension of the sentence.
The state counsel has argued that Singh's failure to surrender as directed by the sessions court renders his revision plea non-maintainable. Despite this, Singh's counsel maintains that the high court can hear the revision. With no exemption application filed, the bench scheduled the next hearing for August 22.
