West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee affirmed her government's dedication to including the Kurmi community in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list, an official reported.
Banerjee discussed this matter with community representatives at the state secretariat, alleging that the Centre's inaction was stalling progress.
In response, Kurmi organizations have announced an indefinite rail and road blockade in the Jangalmahal region starting September 20. The crucial meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary BP Gopalika.
