A 4-year-old boy and his 35-year-old father were killed when debris from a Russian weapon struck their home near Kyiv, Ukrainian officials reported on Sunday. The attack, which also injured a 13-year-old child, took place in the Brovary district just northeast of the capital.

Emergency workers, as shown in a video posted by Ukraine's emergency services, worked through the night to clear debris and retrieved the body of the child from the rubble. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, stated the house was hit by drone debris, although emergency services identified it as missile debris.

"Russia continues to kill people," Yermak highlighted on Telegram, reflecting Ukraine's practice of lowercasing Russia's name. "We must destroy its military infrastructure, as the enemy will not respond to other arguments." There has been no immediate response from Russia, and Reuters was unable to verify the reports independently. Both Kyiv and Moscow have denied intentionally targeting civilians during a war that began in February 2022, resulting in thousands of deaths and millions of displaced Ukrainians.
