Bihar Police Nab Trio, Recover High-Value Radioactive Substance

Three individuals were arrested by Bihar Police in Gopalganj district for possessing 50 grams of Californium, a valuable radioactive substance. Authorities alerted the Department of Atomic Energy and forensic experts were called. The substance is used in nuclear reactors, coal power plants, cancer treatment, and oil drilling.

The Bihar Police have apprehended three individuals from Gopalganj district, seizing 50 grams of a valuable radioactive substance, Californium, reportedly worth crores, officials announced on Friday.

The Gopalganj Police promptly informed the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) about the seizure, adding another layer of scrutiny to the case.

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Kuchaikot Police station intercepted the suspects in the Balthari area on Thursday, recovering not only the Californium but also four mobile phones. A case has been registered and the suspects arrested. Forensic experts have been summoned to examine the radioactive material.
