A 23-year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped earlier this month in the jurisdiction of Hathras Junction Police Station, according to an officer statement on Thursday.

'A complaint was received on Wednesday alleging that the woman was gang-raped by five men on August 2. A case has been filed against the accused and efforts are underway to arrest them,' Circle Officer Shyamveer Singh stated.

The complaint details that the woman went to meet an acquaintance named Deepak. He, along with another man, Rishi, took her to a secluded location where three others—Akash, Mahendra, and Hariom—joined them. The FIR indicates all five men allegedly raped her and then fled the scene.

The accused have been on the run since Wednesday, and a manhunt is currently in progress, according to the officer.
