The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken into custody an assistant director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a jeweller based in Mumbai, officials disclosed on Thursday.

The ED had conducted raids on the jeweller's premises on August 3 and 4, and Assistant Director Sandeep Singh Yadav reportedly threatened to detain the jeweller's son unless he was paid Rs 25 lakh, according to the CBI statement.

Negotiations between Yadav and the jeweller led to a reduced amount of Rs 20 lakh, and Yadav was apprehended red-handed while receiving the bribe, officials said.
