In a significant case, Lahore police have detained seven suspects, amongst them four policemen, for allegedly robbing a German tourist named Berg Florine in Punjab.

Florine, 27, was camping near Lahore airport last week when he was approached by two armed men who stole his mobile phone, cash, and camera, cumulatively valued at PKR 550,000.

Florine has lodged a complaint disclosing that he was visiting Pakistan by bicycle and had set up his tent on an open piece of land for the night on August 3, when the robbery and physical assault took place. Lahore police chief Bilal Siddique Kamyana confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Wednesday, adding that four policemen had been detained for mishandling the incident. Their potential connections to the robbers are still under investigation. A case has been filed against the accused.
