Authorities in Kuala Lumpur are continuing the search for Vijaya Lakshmi Gali, an Indian national who fell into a sinkhole on August 23. The Indian High Commission confirmed the ongoing efforts on Wednesday.

Gali, a 48-year-old tourist, disappeared after falling into an 8-meter-deep sinkhole while walking to a temple for breakfast. The ground suddenly caved in, causing the incident, as reported by Malaysia-based publication, The Star. The Indian High Commission, in a post on social media platform X, stated that search and rescue (SAR) teams are methodically exploring new paths and probable locations to find her. Numerous local agencies, including Police, Fire & Rescue Department, Indah Water Consortium, and KL Federal Territories, are supported by Civil Defence Forces and specialized scientific teams equipped with sophisticated tools.

The search has entered its fifth day, employing techniques such as high-pressure water jets, remote cameras, and ground-penetrating radars to clear obstacles and map inaccessible areas. Officials from the Indian High Commission are maintaining close contact with Gali's family to provide ongoing support.
