Director Srijit Mukerji had to battle with producers to set 'Shekhar Home,' inspired by Sherlock Holmes, in West Bengal amidst an Indian web space dominated by stories from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Mukerji, known for his hit films like 'Chotushkone' and 'Baishe Srabon,' revealed that the BBC initially approached him for an adaptation of one of their shows. Instead, he proposed 'Shekhar Home,' offering a Bengali twist on Sherlock Holmes, which they accepted.

The series, streaming on JioCinema, stars Kay Kay Menon as the iconic detective and is co-directed by Rohan Sippy. It is set in a fictional town, Lonpur, blending elements of London and Bolpur, and features Sherlock-like traits in an Indian setting. Mukerji aims for multiple seasons and hopes to adapt more stories from Arthur Conan Doyle's works.
