The UN human rights office has released a damning report on Wednesday, exposing the torture and mistreatment of Palestinian detainees by Israeli authorities since the Oct. 7 attacks in Gaza.
The report reveals that as of June, Israel's prison service held over 9,400 'security detainees,' some of whom were detained in secret without access to legal representation.
The U.N. Human Rights Chief, Volker Türk, highlighted appalling acts such as waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and the release of dogs on detainees, deeming these actions as violations of international human rights and humanitarian laws. The report's findings may be crucial for International Criminal Court investigations related to the ongoing Gaza conflict.
