Tragedy Strikes Again: Mass Shooting at Rochester Park

Two women were killed and five others injured in a mass shooting that took place on Sunday evening at Maplewood Park in Rochester, New York. The incident occurred around 6:20 pm while hundreds were attending an all-day gathering in the park.

Police Chief David Smith reported on Monday that multiple weapons were fired, although the motive and identities of those responsible remain unknown. "I looked up and I hear somebody yell. He's got a gun! Run!" recalled Rochester resident Shelly Strong, who was near the scene.

Among the victims were Tyasia Manning, 25, a city employee, and Phylicia Council, 34, who succumbed to her injuries later. The five other injured individuals suffered non-life-threatening wounds. Videos on social media captured the chaos as people fled and attempted to provide first aid before medics arrived. This marks the second mass shooting at a Rochester park in as many months, following an incident in June at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park.
