Ex-Rajya Sabha Member's Son Arrested for Rs 2 Crore Fraud
Amit Kanchal, son of former Rajya Sabha member Banwari Lal Kanchal, was arrested for defrauding a property dealer in Lucknow of over Rs 2 crore and issuing death threats. Kanchal and six associates face charges including fraud, tampering with documents, and criminal intimidation.

Amit Kanchal, son of former Rajya Sabha member Banwari Lal Kanchal, has been apprehended by police for allegedly defrauding a Lucknow-based property dealer of more than Rs 2 crore and issuing threats to his life, officials disclosed on Saturday.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Nagar Police station, Ajay Kumar Tripathi, stated that Kanchal and six associates were booked on charges of fraud, document tampering, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult aimed at disturbing peace. Kanchal, residing in Shastri Nagar, Lucknow, was captured near his home on Friday.
The accused along with his gang reportedly took Rs 2.20 crore from the complainant, Rituraj Singh, with a promise to secure a plot of land. However, when Singh demanded his money back on January 14, Kanchal allegedly threatened to kill him.
