Congress MP Praniti Shinde on Wednesday demanded that the government initiate negotiations with Manoj Jarange-Patil to seek a resolution to the Maratha-Dhangar reservation issue during a Lok Sabha session. Shinde raised the issue, emphasizing the need for prompt action.
Highlighting the tensions in Maharashtra, Shinde criticized the BJP, which governs both at the state and national levels, for delaying negotiations. She also pushed for conducting a caste census to ensure appropriate reservations for women and the Maratha and Dhangar communities.
In a related move, BJP's Hemant Savara asked for a new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Thane district, while Congress member Dean Kuriakose called for reintroducing the vermin list under the Wildlife Protection Act to address human-animal conflicts in Kerala.
