Judith Collins to Attend Australian Space Forum and Explore Innovations in Adelaide

The Australian Space Forum is an annual international event expected to attract around 1000 representatives from both government agencies and the private sector.

Judith Collins, New Zealand's Minister for Space and Science, Innovation, and Technology, will travel to Adelaide tomorrow for a series of engagements focused on space, biotechnology, and innovation. Key highlights of her trip include speaking at the Australian Space Forum and participating in meetings and visits relevant to these sectors.

“New Zealand has a thriving space sector that we are actively working to expand as part of our efforts to boost the economy. We are dedicated to fostering innovation and supporting partnerships between commercial entities, research communities, and international space agencies, including those in Australia,” Ms. Collins remarked.

She expressed enthusiasm about promoting New Zealand’s space sector and enhancing trans-Tasman collaboration during the Forum.

Adelaide, home to the Australian Space Agency, SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre, and various technology and innovation hubs, will serve as a key location for exploring cutting-edge developments.

“Biotechnology holds great potential for New Zealand, and we are keen to study Australia's experience with liberalizing genetic modification rules and introducing a gene technology regulator,” Ms. Collins added.

“I am particularly excited to learn about Australia's current clinical trials and advancements in cancer therapies.”

Ms. Collins will return to New Zealand on Thursday.
