TDP and YSRCP Spar Over Special Category Status Ahead of Budget Session

The ruling TDP and the opposition YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh are at odds over the special category status of the state ahead of the Parliament's Budget session. YSRCP accused the TDP of compromising state interests while TDP blamed the previous YSRCP government for financial troubles.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized TDP for silence on special status while supporting similar demands for Bihar by JD(U), another BJP ally. The session will begin Monday, with 19 sittings till August 12.
Reporting on the all-party meeting convened by the BJP-led Centre, YSRCP's Rajya Sabha leader Vijaisai Reddy reiterated demands for special status and other financial concerns, while TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu countered by demanding time to discuss Andhra Pradesh's issues thoroughly in Parliament.
