On Saturday, the Telangana government conducted a review meeting with officials from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) to address the damages sustained by the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project.

Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy informed PTI in New Delhi that the NDSA has been tasked with determining the cause of the project's failure and providing recommendations for the future.

Reddy highlighted that the extensive project, built at the expense of Rs one lakh crore, 'collapsed' under the previous BRS regime, accusing it of widespread corruption.

'There was gross corruption and we will take action against whoever is guilty,' Reddy stated.

The controversy has led to a war of words between the ruling Congress and BRS, particularly over damages to the Medigadda barrage, a crucial component of the project.

The NDSA's findings from last November revealed that the Medigadda barrage had been significantly compromised and requires complete rehabilitation to be functional again.
