The Congress on Saturday described the multiple scandals plaguing the UPSC as a cause of national concern, following the resignation of its chairman, Manoj Soni, who cited personal reasons. Congress leaders implied he was nudged out amid ongoing controversies linked to the Commission.
Soni, who had resigned ahead of his term ending in May 2029, is not connected to the ongoing controversies, according to official sources. However, the resignation has raised questions, fueled by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's allegations of BJP-RSS's institutional takeover of India's constitutional bodies.
The UPSC recently lodged a criminal case against probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar for fraud. This scandal has led to calls for a thorough investigation to prevent future malpractices, highlighting systemic issues affecting the aspirations of hardworking candidates across various categories.
