Hafiz Ahmed, accused in a share trading and SIM card racket, has been remanded in judicial custody by the Thane police's Economic Offences Wing. Ahmed was arrested on July 15 and appeared before First Class Judicial Magistrate BS Pal after his police remand ended.

Ahmed is alleged to have supplied SIM cards to Dubai and other international locations for fraudulent share trading activities. Despite arguments from Ahmed's counsel, Sunil Bhatia, asserting that police custody was not necessary, Judge Pal ruled for judicial custody.

Earlier, two other accused in the same case were also remanded in judicial custody.
