Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday commended the Yogi Adityanath government for resolving the confusion caused by the Muzaffarnagar Police's order requiring eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names. Naqvi, who had criticized the initial directive, lauded the state government's new guideline for ensuring the sanctity and safety of the pilgrimage.
Following backlash from opposition parties and ruling alliance members, who claimed that the order unfairly targeted Muslim traders, the Uttar Pradesh government extended the revised guideline statewide. Naqvi stated that the directive is crucial for maintaining the pilgrimage's respect and communal harmony.
Emphasizing the collective responsibility for social harmony, Naqvi urged that communal conspiracies must not succeed. He reiterated that faith should be respected without fostering untouchability, and shared a personal anecdote to highlight his longstanding commitment to protecting religious traditions from intolerance.
