A suspected Maoist, Manoj, arrested by the Kerala Police, was remanded to judicial custody on Friday amid tight security.

Escorted by at least six armed policemen, Manoj raised pro-Maoist slogans while entering and exiting the court premises.

Official sources report that the accused will be presented before the court again on Saturday, which will then deliberate on the police's custody application.

For today, he is lodged in the district prison. Manoj was apprehended from the South railway station on Thursday and faces charges in approximately 16 cases, including 12 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
