Union minister and BJP ally Chirag Paswan has firmly opposed the Muzaffarnagar police advisory that requires eatery owners to display their identities based on caste or religion, saying he will 'absolutely … never support or encourage' any form of division.
In response to whether he supports the advisory, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president told PTI editors, 'No, I don't.' Paswan highlighted that societal divisions exist primarily between the rich and the poor, cutting across different castes and religions.
Paswan stressed the government's duty to bridge this economic gap and work for the impoverished, citing that all society segments, including Dalits, backwards, upper castes, and Muslims, must be considered. He condemned any form of caste or religious divide, emphasizing that an educated generation does not entertain such divides.
