The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) announced on Thursday that it will assign unique QR codes to every new project at the time of registration. Promoters will need to publish these codes in their brochures and advertisements, according to UPRERA.

This initiative aims to bolster transparency in the real estate sector. Often, home buyers lack the means to verify amenities and other project details, relying solely on promotional material put out by developers. With the new system, potential investors can simply scan the QR code with their mobile phones to access comprehensive project information directly from the UP RERA portal.

Furthermore, UPRERA has made it obligatory for promoters to include these QR codes in all shared documents like booking forms, allotment letters, and builder-buyer agreements. Using the QR code, allottees can obtain details such as land documents, approved layouts, project specifications, start and completion dates, and much more. This move ensures that the same advertisements used for promotion will now serve as a source of verified project information. 'Promotion and advertisement are the strongest tools for selling real estate properties, but it is crucial that no innocent buyer is misled,' stated UPRERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy.
