In the village of Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, women such as Sunita are breaking barriers and transforming their lives through self-help groups (SHGs). Sunita, who was once confined to domestic duties, now successfully operates a canteen, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and the community support she receives.

Guided by government schemes and backed by fellow SHG members, Sunita and many others have turned their dreams into reality. Sunita, who runs a canteen in Jhansi's Lalitpur village, shared, "I am connected with a self-help group and run an NGO. Earlier, I didn't do anything. I just stayed at home, taking care of the children and managing the household. Gradually, I learned about the self-help group. We joined the group, and we were taught how to run a business. We moved forward with everyone's support."

Another member from Simrawari village, Akanksha Tamrekar, has channeled her passion for art into a thriving business. Her group, Nav Srijan Mahila Swayam Sahayta Samuh, creates home decor items from old newspapers. Supported by the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Tamrekar's venture has earned her state recognition and expanded her reach to international trade fairs, illustrating the significant impact of these initiatives on women's empowerment.
