General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, has lauded the heroic sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during the Kargil war, marking its 25th anniversary. At the 'Kargil Diwas Honours' event held by TV9 Network, General Chauhan highlighted the need to learn from past conflicts to better prepare for future threats.

The war, which concluded on July 26, 1999, saw Indian forces successfully repel Pakistani troops in Ladakh. General Chauhan stated that Pakistan's attempts to redeem its honor post-1971 and 1984 defeats were unsuccessful during Kargil, stressing the continuous proxy war mindset and its implications today.

He also mentioned the evolving nature of warfare, calling for seamless integration across various military domains to ensure India's preparedness against multi-domain challenges. The event honored many Kargil heroes, reinforcing the imperative for the nation to remember and cherish their sacrifices.
