In a tragic turn of events, Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested two male relatives connected to a harrowing crime involving three minor boys. These boys allegedly gang-raped a nine-year-old girl and disposed of her body in a canal, said an official on Tuesday.

On July 7, the accused boys allegedly perpetrated the heinous crime by first raping the young girl and then pushing her into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal in Mucchumarri village. She was last seen playing in a local park.

Newly appointed Nandyal superintendent of police Adhiraj Singh Rana announced the arrests of the father and uncle of one of the boys, who were taken into custody for concealing and destroying evidence.

''The suspects were arrested on Monday and subsequently remanded by a local court,'' Rana informed PTI, adding that the juvenile boys were presented in a juvenile court.

Following the heinous act, the boys allegedly strangled the girl to death, transported her body by bicycle and motorcycle to the Krishna river backwaters, and then dumped it in the canal with help from the two men, police reported. Authorities reconstructed the crime scene on Tuesday morning.

To locate the girl's body, six police teams have been mobilized, utilizing expert swimmers, dog squads, drone cameras, and technical teams. Both National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are involved in the search operation.
