Mihir Shah, the main accused in a high-profile BMW hit-and-run case, has been remanded in 14-day judicial custody by a Mumbai court. Shah was arrested on July 9, two days after he allegedly ran over a woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, killing her and injuring her husband, Pradeep.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Sewri court, S P Bhosale, extended Shah's custody following police requests for more time to investigate. Police argue that Shah has not provided information about those who assisted him while he was absconding and that vital details, such as the missing number plate, are still unknown.

Defense counsels Ayush Pasbola and Shudir Bhardwaj counter-argued that the police had already seized necessary evidence and recorded statements from 27 witnesses. Despite these arguments, the court decided to extend Shah's custody. Co-accused Rajesh Shah, Mihir's father and a Shiv Sena leader, has been granted bail, while their driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, remains in judicial custody.
