A violent conflict erupted at Vishalgad Fort in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, during an anti-encroachment drive, with mob stone pelting injuring police personnel and damaging properties.
The violence ensued after right-wing activists led by former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati were stopped due to prohibitory orders.
The incident led to the registration of four cases against more than 500 people and the arrest of 21 individuals.
The anti-encroachment drive resumed with heavy security. Meanwhile, political leaders criticized the government, pointing at the mishandling and questioning whether the 'jungle raj' prevails.
