Security forces conducted search operations at various locations across the Jammu region on Monday, leading to the recovery of a grenade and some ammunition, officials reported. The coordinated efforts by police, CRPF, and Army personnel in Jammu, Doda, and Reasi were triggered by a tip-off regarding suspected individuals.
In one instance, a joint operation by police and CRPF personnel was carried out in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu following a villager's report of suspicious movement. Although no suspicious items were found in this search, another operation in Dalantop, Mahore in Reasi district uncovered a hand grenade, a magazine, and 30 rounds of AK assault rifle ammunition.
The recovered items, showing signs of rust, were presumed to have been abandoned by terrorists. Reasi SSP Mohita Sharma emphasized the need to combat anti-national activities. Additional searches were also conducted in several other locations within Reasi. Recent terror incidents in the region have increased security vigilance.
