In a significant drug bust, Punjab Police on Monday apprehended Sandeep Singh, also known as Kaka, following the seizure of 41 quintals of poppy husk. The contraband was being smuggled in a container truck from Madhya Pradesh.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the truck driver was identified as a resident of Raipur Arian village in Nakodar, Jalandhar. A police team, acting on a tip-off, managed to intercept and search the vehicle in Bathinda, discovering 210 bags filled with poppy husk.

Preliminary investigations revealed the consignment was intended for delivery across Jalandhar, Moga, and Ferozepur districts. The police are diligently working to dismantle the entire network, following all possible linkages. Assistant Inspector General Avneet Kaur Sidhu added that Sandeep Singh has confessed to transporting large consignments previously and further investigations are ongoing.
