The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar challenging the CBI's FIR in a disproportionate assets case. Shivakumar, also the state Congress President, asserted his innocence and said he will abide by the Supreme Court's order.
Shivakumar noted that the state government had withdrawn the sanction allowing the CBI to prosecute him and had handed the case over to the Lokayukta. However, the CBI remains involved in the investigation despite this change.
A Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and S C Sharma, stated they would not interfere with the Karnataka High Court's earlier order. Shivakumar highlighted that he had filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, which upheld the High Court's decision, and expressed his commitment to comply with the legal process.
