Madras High Court Acting Chief Justice, Justice R Mahadevan, on Saturday underscored the imperative of providing timely justice to the common man. Speaking at the inauguration of new courts in an integrated court complex, he urged the judges assigned to these courts to handle cases with a humanistic and objective outlook.

Justice Mahadevan also stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to litigation, ensuring speedy and fair justice for all parties involved. He expressed hope that timely justice would help reduce crime rates.

Puducherry Lieutenant Governor C P Radhakrishnan, presiding over the function, cautioned against delays in justice delivery, suggesting that such delays might lead contestants to seek out kangaroo courts. He called for significant financial, judicial, and electoral reforms to bolster democracy's progress.

The newly inaugurated courts include a mahila court, a fast track court under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, and a mobile court.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy pledged the territorial government's support for the infrastructural needs of the courts and reiterated the necessity for prompt justice for the populace.

The event saw the presence of key figures including Puducherry Assembly Speaker R Selvam, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Madras High Court Justices D Krishnakumar and C Saravanan, Chief Judge of Puducherry Justice T Chandrasekaran, Puducherry Law Secretary L S Sathiamurthy, and Puducherry Bar Association office-bearers.
