School Director Arrested in Student Suicide Case in Thane

The director of Sacred Heart School in Kalyan, Thane district, was arrested for his role in the suicide of a 16-year-old student, according to police on Friday.

Class XI student Anish Dalvi, attending the school in Varap, committed suicide at his home in Nimbavali village on Thursday, confirmed an official from Titwala police station.

His parents claimed that Dalvi was in distress after being allegedly hit by school director Alvin Anthony for a social media post about a female student, and that Anthony threatened to expel Dalvi and two other students. Anthony was arrested on Thursday, police reported.
