Vulnerable Witness Deposition Centre Inaugurated in Andaman's Mayabunder
The Calcutta High Court has inaugurated a Vulnerable Witness Deposition Centre (VWDC) at the district court in Mayabunder, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Established to protect vulnerable witnesses, the VWDC follows a Supreme Court directive and was built at a cost of Rs 29 lakh.

The Calcutta High Court has inaugurated a Vulnerable Witness Deposition Centre (VWDC) at the district court in Mayabunder, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The VWDC, designed to protect vulnerable witnesses, is a response to a directive issued by the Supreme Court.
Calcutta High Court Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam highlighted the centre's essential features and stressed its importance for the district judiciary in Mayabunder during the inauguration on Thursday.
The state-of-the-art centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 29 lakh, aims to ensure that vulnerable witnesses can provide testimony in a secure environment, thereby achieving its intended purpose.
