Manvi Madhu Kashyap, a remarkable individual from Bihar, recently achieved her dream of becoming the first transwoman sub-inspector in the state's police force. After facing rejection from several coaching centers due to her transgender identity, Kashyap, who hails from Banka district, has now etched her name in history.

Speaking to PTI Video, Kashyap described her achievement as a 'dream come true' and expressed immense gratitude for the support she received. She emphasized her desire to return to her village in uniform to inspire others with her story of perseverance and dedication.

Kashyap, along with two other transgender individuals, successfully passed the Bihar Police Subordinate Selection Commission (BPSSC) exams. Her journey to success was fraught with challenges and discrimination, highlighting the urgent need for societal change to support the transgender community. The 2011 Census reports that Bihar is home to 40,827 transgender people.

Despite the obstacles, Kashyap extended her gratitude to transgender activist Reshma Prasad and her teacher Rahman sir for their unwavering support. Prasad, the founder secretary of the NGO Dostanasafar, celebrated Kashyap's success as a major victory for the transgender community and called on others to advocate for their rights.

The National Council for Transgender Persons (NCTP), established under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, continues to advise the government on policy matters impacting the transgender community.
