Today at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, convened significant discussions with agriculture ministers from Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Madhya Pradesh (MP). The meetings, attended by UP Agriculture Minister Shri Surya Pratap Shahi and MP Agriculture Minister Shri Adal Singh Kansana, focused on advancing the agricultural sector in their respective states.

Union Minister Shri Chouhan underscored the Government of India's unwavering commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to prioritize the interests of farmers and bolster the agriculture sector with comprehensive support. Key topics discussed included the promotion of crop diversification, leveraging Information Technology for digital crop surveys, establishing farmer registries, enhancing operations of Electronic National Agriculture Market (E-NAM), strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), implementing PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and accelerating agriculture mechanization initiatives.

Highlighting the potential for crop diversification and natural farming in UP, Shri Chouhan reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to ensuring 100 percent procurement of Urad, Arhar, and Masur across all states, including MP. Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Sanjeev Chopra, alongside senior ministry officials, participated in the discussions, reinforcing collaborative efforts towards agricultural advancement.

Since assuming office as Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development last month, Shri Chouhan has initiated a series of dialogues with state ministers to address and expedite resolutions to pertinent issues within his ministries. Previously, he engaged with agriculture ministers from Assam and Chhattisgarh, underscoring his proactive approach to fostering sectoral growth and development.
