Several people, including the temple priest, had sought refuge in a temple at Goplapur village when lightning struck. Temple priest Radheshyam Giri (50) succumbed to the electrocution, while seven others sustained serious burns and are currently being treated at a medical college, Sharma noted.

In a separate incident, Rajnath Kushwaha (40) was struck by lightning while sowing paddy in his fields, leading to his immediate death.
