At least seven individuals, including four children, lost their lives on Sunday in a devastating accident when a speeding coaster collided with a trailer truck and overturned in Pakistan's Sindh province.

The incident occurred in Karachi, the provincial capital, as the trailer truck attempted a U-turn and the following coaster rammed into it, overturning in the process, according to police reports.

Among the deceased were four children and two women, all members of a family heading to Hawksbay Beach for a picnic. The driver of the trailer is reported to have fled the scene.

Six others, including two children, were injured in the crash, SHO Mauripur Chaudhry Tufail confirmed.

Emergency responders swiftly provided medical aid to the injured, and the deceased were transferred to the Civil Hospital Karachi for further procedures.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the lives lost and instructed top medical centers to ensure the best treatment for the injured. He also called for a comprehensive report from Sindh Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon and ordered stringent measures to curb traffic accidents.

'Licenses of drivers who speed, especially on busy roads, should be revoked. Speeding has not only taken lives but also shattered happy families,' CM Shah stated.

Previously, on May 23, a jeep accident in Abbottabad's Liran village resulted in six fatalities and seven injuries.
