According to Additional Superintendent of Police Tejveer Singh, the two women ingested sulphas tablets at their home in the morning. Family members immediately took them to a nearby hospital in Prayagraj district; however, both succumbed.

Their bodies have since been returned to their village. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances leading to this grave act, with the motive still unknown, Singh stated.
