Police have launched an investigation and detained five individuals following a viral video showing purported drug-like substances at a Pune bar, an official confirmed Sunday. Additionally, two policemen were suspended for allowing the late-night party to continue past permissible hours.
The video, widely circulated on social media, depicted youths at a bar on Fergusson College Road with a suspected powdery substance. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill disclosed that five people were detained, while the process of case registration was in progress.
"Event organizer Akshay Kamthe allegedly brought 40 to 50 youths to the L3 bar on FC Road for a late-night party, managing access through the back door after closing hours," the official reported.
According to police, the party began after 1:30 am on Sunday, continuing for several hours. Prior to L3, the group partied in Hadapsar. "We are investigating if any narcotics were consumed. Two Shivaji Nagar police station personnel have been suspended for lapses," Gill stated. This incident aligns with recent police crackdowns following a Porsche crash that killed two techies last month.
