A woman and her husband were arrested for robbing her 85-year-old grandmother of jewelry and money in Thiruvananthapuram, police said on Saturday.

The suspects, Parvathy and her husband Sarath, were detained by the East police following a complaint from the elderly victim, Yashoda.

Parvathy, living with her grandmother, was aware of the valuables and on Thursday, the couple tied the elderly woman's hands and forcibly took the gold ornaments, police stated. They also stole Rs 25,000 from her almirah.

After the complaint, the police launched a manhunt and arrested them in Kazhakkoottam on Friday. They have since been remanded, according to authorities.
