RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday voiced his outrage over the Patna High Court's verdict to annul the increased quotas for disadvantaged castes in Bihar.

Yadav questioned Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's ''silence'' on the issue and pledged that his party would take the matter to the Supreme Court if the state government did not.

''The CM remains silent. He seems eager to seek favor from Prime Minister Narendra Modi once more, urging him to incorporate Bihar's reservation laws into the Constitution's ninth schedule," Yadav told PTI Video.

Yadav, visibly shaken by the judgement, accused the BJP of attempting to derail the caste survey, which had justified the quota hike. "The verdict is unsurprising given the BJP's recent resurgence at the Centre," he remarked.

On Thursday, the Patna High Court nullified a previous year's decision to increase quotas for Dalits, backward classes, and tribals from 50 to 65 per cent.

Drawing from his father's legacy, the young RJD leader said he plans to pen a letter to the chief minister on the matter.

''I shall propose he leads an all-party delegation to the PM seeking corrective actions," Yadav suggested.

Yadav, who was the deputy CM when the caste survey report was released, emphasized that his party RJD would approach the Supreme Court if the state failed to respond adequately.
